Mind of a Girl and Mind of a Boy

If your boyfriend likes to shop and enjoys a good gossip, scientists have found a reason behind it. Not all men are psychologically inclined to map reading and playing chess. Not all women are sensitive and enjoy a good round of chat. According to tests women tend to score higher on the empathy test and men come tops, when it comes to measure their analytical skills and system measurements. But a certain percentage of men and women, albeit lower, scored significantly higher on the test in which the opposite sex fared better. It is a given that the sex of the brain is actually determined when the baby is one year old.

Here are a first set of sentences for you to read through:

  1. I prefer to read non fiction than fiction.
  2. I love reading articles or information about new technologies and inventions
  3. I am fascinated by how machines work.
  4. When I cook, I think about how different ingredients combine to make a delicious recipe.
  5. When I learn a language, I am mystified by its grammatical content and rules.
  6. I love the do it yourself philosophy and kits.
  7. I love the discovery channel and scientific documentaries.
  8. Bank statements and credit cards, those are my babies.
  9. Legal documents are to be scanned and read carefully.
  10. If there is an electrical problem, depend on me to rectify a circuit problem without a blink.

Now look at the second set of sentences:

  1. I can easily get a sense of the fact that the third party is interested in knowing what is happening.
  2. I should never be late for a meeting.
  3. You have to think about how the other person feels, before you criticize him or her.
  4. I know when the person says one thing and means the other.
  5. If someone gets offended by my comment, I really feel guilty.
  6. I hate to see people cry and in despair.
  7. I would rather listen to people than brag about my own achievements.
  8. I love films which have some emotional content, romance and humor in them.
  9. Suppose I don’t like something in a person, I would rather not point it out to him or her because he or she might be offended.
  10. I wish people cared and looked beyond the physical characteristics of a person.

Now looking at the above two set of sentences, let us grade them according to our preferences. If you strongly agree with the any statement, give yourself an A. If you slightly agree with a statement give yourself B. Give a C for each statement to which you respond A, one for every time you say B but no points for C or D.

Add up your total score for the SQ(systemizing quotient), which comprise the first set of sentences and all EQ(empathizing quotient) which comprise the second set of sentences, to give you totals out of a maximum of 20 which represent your systemizing quotient(predominantly man’s brain) or empathizing quotient(predominantly female brain)
